Hereford cattle were created in the West of England. It has a very robust constitution and excellent acclimatisation ability, which is why it is the most common breed of beef cattle in the world and makes up the main percentage of beef cattle herds in the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, England, Russia, etc.

Hereford cattle are typical of the early maturing English beef breeds. It has a harmonious conformation with the typical features of the beef cattle. Its coat colour is red with white patches on the head, withers, chest, belly, legs (below the knees and hock joints) and tail tuft.

The live weight of Hereford cows is 550-600 kg and of bulls 800-1000 kg.

After 1965, Hereford bulls were imported for industrial cross-breeding with Bulgarian Red cattle, and after 1981 – bred heifers and hornless Hereford bulls from Canada for the needs of beef cattle breeding.
