Glycoline

Glycoline® is a combination of glucose precursors and ingredients with extremely high efficiency. Its highly concentrated formula maintains optimal glucose levels in dairy cows and small ruminants. Vitalac’s iconic product, provides cows with the glucose they need, but unfortunately often lack.

Glycoline® prevents ketosis and hypoglycaemia. It reduces the physiological energy deficit around the calving period. Limits loss of body condition after calving. Increases milk production at the peak of lactation. Prepares for resumption of ovarian cyclicity and ensures fertility. Contributes to healthy immune function. Reduces effects of heat stress. Promotes good levels of trough and feed robot visitation. Muscle tone in cows.

Glycoline® offers an effective, fast and cost-effective solution to combat energy deficiency in cows. Stimulates appetite by maintaining blood sugar levels through reduced ketones in the blood. Frequency of milking robot visits is increased and calving intervals/first estrus/ are improved.

Glycoline® has real added value compared to mass glucose precursors. The product is a mix of precursors that when mixed have an extremely effective synergistic effect. What are the advantages of glucose precursors compared to sugars? Sugars feed the bacteria in the rumen and are non-glycogenic. Glucose precursors feed the cow and are converted to glucose in the liver. Glycoline® also contains specific vitamins with targeted actions to ensure healthy rumen flora and to rid the body of ketones.

Cows suffer rapidly from an increase in ambient temperature and this occurs at an even faster rate if the humidity level is high. For cows we use the term thermal discomfort when the temperature reaches 20°C and the humidity level exceeds 50%. 20°C at 90% humidity = 35°C at 17% humidity!

What are the direct effects of heat stress on herds? Spike in body temperature, hyperventilation and reduced intake, hence milk production. Blood sugar levels are always low at higher temperatures. Less glucose means the udder produces less lactose, in other words less milk.

The glucose precursors in Glycoline® increase blood sugar levels in cows, which stimulates their appetite and aids production even when temperatures rise. Niacin increases heat tolerance.
